This weekend marked the 45th anniversary of the founding of our style of Shorin-Ryu Karate by Grand Master Ansei Ueshiro in 1962. This milestone was celebrated this weekend by over a hundred students from Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu karate schools from all over the country participating in workouts, testing, reviews, demonstrations, breaking, dinners, campai, fellowship and much joy and vigor!
Domo Arigato, as always, to Hanshi Robert Scaglione for his tireless leadership and support of all of us as we keep moving forward towards the next big milestone – the 50th anniversary of our sacred style.
This weekend was a magnificent display of bushi warrior spirit, the trademark of our founder Grand Master Ansei Ueshiro, and was a true inspiration to all those who attended the event. Those who were not able to attend the event this time will benefit from the energy generated by all who attended as they bring back the spirit of the weekend to share with students in local dojo around the country.
Those of us in Central Florida can begin now to prepare for the upcoming 50th anniversary only a short five years away and be prepared in to travel to wherever it will be held. Meanwhile that spirit can be found in the upcoming testing of our sister Cocoa/Suntree/Vierra Dojo this Saturday. All Cocoa Beach students are encouraged to attend and show support for their test as they did for our last weekend.
