April, 2009: White Belt Testing

Cocoa Beach Ueshiro Shorin-Ryu Karate held our April white belt testing tonight, April 28th 2009 at our CBH&F location.

A total of twenty three deshi showed up, with seven new deshi testing.

Domo arigato to the black belt board of judges, Sensei Tom DuJardin and Sempai Glen Miller. Arigato to Sensei DuJardin for teaching the Monday classes and showing up to all of our tests and events. It is great to have Sempai Glen Miller training with us. He and I tested for our black belts together in October of 1993 at the Hombu Dojo on Lexington Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

Arigato also to the students who were not testing but showed up, as part of their responsibility of their current rank, to support the test: Ni-kyu: Steve Turner, Jean Chipman; Wade Parker; San kyu: Jeff Wells; Jeff Tomberlin; Steven Clarke; Anthony Clarke; Yon kyu: Peter DeBenedet; Helena Denemark; Logan Clifton; Yellow Belt: Jeremy Wells, Go-kyu; William DeBenedet and Nicholas Davidson. Good job to all of you!

All students, particularly at green belt level and above, are required to show up for tests & events or to let me know why they cannot attend. “Rank is as much a responsibility as it is an honor” (Green Book).

Congratulations to the following deshi who tested and were promoted: Ro kyu: Ken Shellman, Alex Henry; Natalie Lyons; Alec Diamond; Corey Boyer. Green Stripes: Kelly Dunn; Bryce Grant.
