April 30, 2010 - Kata-thon for St Jude

Great job to all who showed up tonight for the kata-thon!!!! I am very proud to be a part of the Cocoa Beach Shorin-Ryu Karate School with the spirit showed by all tonight and for the fundraising for St Jude Children’s Hospital!!!

We are going to far exceed our target due to the warrior like effort turned in by our students – our initial target was $1,000, and by tonight we are going to top $3,000!!! Domo arigato to all – every $5 or $10 collected makes a difference! Thanks to ALL who participated. If you have not yet turned in your donation and would like to, please contact me – I will be collecting final donations next week and submitting to St Jude’s the week after.

And to top it all off, we had a great turnout of spirited students who stayed to do the 100 kata in our kata-thon!!! Two and half hours of continuous kata with a 1 minute water break at the half marathon fifty kata level. I saw every student pushing themselves like true true warriors tonight! This is what inspires me to keep showing up!! Great job to all!!

In May we have another Saturday seminar by Sensei Van Westering ..date to be announced. if you missed the last one, you are encouraged to make this one (those that attened the last one will no doubt want to attend this one). We will also be going to Indian River Dojo to train with Sensei Phil Collins and Sensei Kilani Moinos on a Thursday evening – date to be announced – again, if you missed the last one, try and make this one.

Keep up the good work of training hard and having fun!
