Congratulations to all Cocoa Beach Shorin-Ryu Karate deshi for showing up tonight in force and participating in a spirited kyu-rank testing, our first as a full dojo member of the World Matsubayashi (Shorin-Ryu) Karate-Do Association!
Arigato to black belts Sensei DuJardin and Sempai Motro for assisting with the testing and showing strong support of the CB Dojo as we move forward! Arigato also to those deshi not testing but showing up to support the test: Ik-kyu: Danny & Wade Parker; Ni-kyu: Michael Adams, Steve Turner; Orange Belts: Gannon Avery; and Go-kyu & Ro-kyu Kelley Dunne & Stephanie Douglas.
Congratulations to those testing and promoted after a rigorous testing including, kata, bunkai, yakasoku kumite and board breaking!
Hunter McCarthy was unable to attend due to a prior commitment and will be testing for go-kyu next Friday.
Great job to all! Let’s keep training hard and having fun!
Next Saturday is the karate seminar on kata applications and nunchaku to be conducted by Sensei Peter Van Westering, 6th dan and one of my instructors when I was a brown belt in NYC. This is entirely optional. Starts at 3pm at the CBH&F and will go to 5pm or later. Stay as long as you like.
Then on March 20, we have another seminar by a 7th dan in Cocoa – details to be posted closer to the time.
