First arigato to Sensei Tom DuJardin Yon-Dan (4th degree) and Sempai Joe Motro, Ni-Dan (2nd degree) for all their hard work conducting classes, as well as behind the scenes and in preparation for testing, and for assisting and judging in the testing!
Arigato also to Sempai Jean Chipman Ik-kyu (2 black tips) and Jordan Tomberlin, orange belt, for showing up to support the test even though they were not testing – high level conduct!

We all have to keep working on our basics! As mentioned by the black belts after the testing, these include: footwork, hitting the target, tight fist, showing up regularly, etc. Keep working on the basics in class.
I will be leaving for my karate trip to St Louis Mo and Belleville Ill tomorrow and will be training with high ranking black belts under the World Matsubayashi-Ryu (Shorin Ryu) Karate-Do Association (WMKA) in preparation for the trip to Okinawa in November. I was told to bring a notebook to write down all the corrections I will be receiving – the learning never ends J It is the Zen of karate training that we strive for perfection which at the same time is unattainable. But we keep striving and training! Arigato to Sensei DuJardin and Sempai Motro for keeping the classes running while I’m away and for their year-round dedication and commitment to keeping Shorin-Ryu alive and well and training hard in Cocoa Beach!
