March 10, 2010: Beachside karate school joins world organization

Note: There are some factual errors in this article:

  • The international World Matsubayahsi-Ryu (Shorin-Ryu) Karate-Do Association (WMKA) organization is under the direction of the son, not grandson, of the founder. Soke Takayoshi Nagamine is the son of O'Sensei Shoshin Nagamine, the founder of the style in 1947 and also author of the textbook of all Shorin-Ryu practitioners, “The Essence of Okinawan Karate-Do”.
  • Ansei Ueshiro was a student of Shoshin Nagamine. We are no longer affiliated with the Ueshiro group but rather with the original founder, O'Sensei Shoshin Nagamine, via the style and organization he founded. We are now affiliated with 53 Shorin-Ryu Karate Schools, worldwide, 30 in the USA, five in Florida, including Cocoa Beach, Cocoa, and Orlando
