“I come to you with only Karate.
My hands are empty,
but I fear no man.
Should I be forced to defend myself,
my honor, or my principles;
should it be a matter of right or wrong, life or death…
Then here are my weapons,
My empty hands.”
Dojo Rules
The following rules apply to ALL Shorin-Ryu Karate USA Dojos:
Always show courtesy to all.
Address your instructor as sensei or sempai accordingly.
Bow to the sensei when entering or leaving the school.
When a third degree black belt or above enters or leaves the deck in uniform for the first time, the senior student stops the activity on the deck and orders the students to attention.
No smoking in the school.
No wearing of jewelry or other ornaments on the deck during a class.
No food or drink allowed on the deck.
No talking or laughing while class is in session.
No profanity.
Keep your uniform clean.
Keep your fingernails and toenails short.
Refrain from misusing your knowledge.
Do not consume alcoholic beverages before class, your timing could be affected and cause injury.
Do not leave the deck during class without your sensei’s permission.
Students bow to each other before and after each practice.
Strive to promote the true spirit of the martial arts by:
Character, mental development
Health, physical development
Skill, proficiency in karate
Respect, courtesy to others
Humility, be aware of your shortcomings.
Each student is responsible for signing the attendance book.
Always show courtesy to all.
